The Three Inspection Standards Your Facility Likely Requires

    01NFPA 80

Annual Fire Door Inspection & Drop Testing

NFPA 80 — Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives — requires annual inspection of all fire-rated door assemblies, including rolling steel fire doors, sectional fire doors, and fire-rated personnel doors.

    The annual inspection must verify:

    • Door closes and latches completely without obstruction
    • No holes, breaks, or damage to fire-rated components
    • Clearances meet NFPA 80 requirements
    • Drop test function — fusible link releases and door closes to the floor (rolling steel fire doors)
    • Self-closing devices operational
    • Hardware and label condition

InSev Tech provides a written NFPA 80 inspection report for every fire-rated assembly inspected — documenting the assembly location, condition findings, and any deficiencies requiring repair.

This report is required documentation for AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) compliance and is referenced during fire marshal inspections of industrial facilities across Southern California.

Which Facilities in Southern California Require These Inspections

    Fire Door Inspection (NFPA 80)

Required at all facilities with fire-rated door assemblies — virtually every Southern California industrial building with an occupancy permit has at least one fire-rated rolling steel or sectional assembly requiring annual inspection.

Most commonly cited in food processing, pharmaceutical, and multi-tenant industrial facilities during fire marshal inspections.

    OSHA Dock Safety

Required at all facilities where powered industrial trucks (forklifts) operate at loading dock positions — which is the majority of Southern California's warehouse, distribution, and food manufacturing facilities.

ISNetworld-enrolled facilities are particularly likely to require documented OSHA dock safety inspection records as part of their contractor management program.

    UL 325 Compliance

Required for all commercial door operators manufactured and installed after 1993 in California — applies to all sectional overhead, rolling steel, and automatic sliding door operators at commercial facilities.

Particularly important at facilities where door operators are in egress paths or accessible to the public — including food retail, pharmaceutical receiving, and hospital facilities.

    Combined Programs

Many Southern California facilities require all three inspections — NFPA 80 for fire doors, OSHA dock safety for dock positions, and UL 325 for door operators.

InSev Tech can perform all three in a single scheduled visit — producing separate documentation sets for each inspection standard.
