    What NFPA 80 Requires

NFPA 80 — Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives — requires that all fire-rated door assemblies be inspected and tested annually by a qualified person. The inspection must cover the door, frame, hardware, and closing mechanisms, and the results must be documented and retained for the life of the door.

For commercial and industrial facilities in California, NFPA 80 compliance is enforced through the California Fire Code and is commonly required during insurance audits, facility inspections, and tenant improvement sign-offs.
